Oyster Harbour is a permanently open estuary that occupies 15.6 square kilometres of land. It is used to house a fishing fleet that carries out commercial fishing and oyster and mussel farming operations. Thousands of waterbirds use the harbour for feeding.
Boat fishing primarily takes place in Oyster Harbour, although some jetty fishing takes place. Possible catches include species of herring, skippy, whiting, squid, flathead and rock.
Pleasant beaches for swimming and picnic areas make Oyster Harbour a perfect venue for a family outing. Experience one of the harbour’s boat cruises and venture up the Kalgan River to discover the natural landscape.
